Domain and Hosting in Pakistan: Why Buying Both Together Saves Money

Every website needs two things: a domain (the name people type) and hosting (the server the site lives on). You can buy them from different companies, and plenty of people do. But for most small businesses in Pakistan, buying them together is cheaper and causes fewer headaches. Here's why, and when it's better to keep them separate.

Domain vs hosting, in one paragraph

Think of the domain as your shop's address and the hosting as the shop itself. The domain (yourbusiness.pk) points visitors to the right place. The hosting holds your website files, your database and your email. You need both, and they have to be connected. That connection, through nameservers and DNS records, is where most first-time trouble happens.

Why buying them together usually works out cheaper

When you buy hosting from us, the domain is often included:

• Our .pk hosting bundles include a free .pk domain for the two-year term. That matters more since PKNIC raised .pk fees in August 2026.
• Yearly web hosting plans include a free .com domain.

The less obvious benefit: one place to fix things

When the domain is with one company and the hosting with another, a problem with your website or email can turn into a back-and-forth. The host says it's a DNS issue; the registrar says DNS is fine. You're in the middle.

With both under one account, the nameservers are set for you, the email records are already in place and SSL is issued automatically. If something does go wrong, one support team can see the whole picture. For a business owner who just wants the site and email to work, that's worth a lot.

One invoice, one renewal date

Bundled plans renew together. That sounds minor until you've had a website go down because the domain expired while the hosting was paid up, or the other way round. One renewal reminder is much easier to keep track of than two.

When to keep them separate

There are good reasons to split them:

• You already own the domain somewhere else and it's working fine. You can point it to our hosting without moving it.
• You own a lot of domains and manage them centrally.
• You're using a platform like Shopify or Wix for the website. In that case you only need the domain, and you point it to the platform (we have a guide on connecting a domain to Shopify).

Even then, make sure the domain is registered in your name and you have the login. That's the part you can't afford to lose.

3. Search your name at checkout, pay in rupees, and the domain and hosting are activated together, usually in about ten minutes.
